SASSA Black Card 2025 : In order to ensure smooth transactions of social grants to the beneficiaries, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) urges them to replace their soon-to-expire gold cards with the new Postbank black cards on or before May 31, 2025.
Why The Transition To Black Card?
In order to guarantee enhanced security of grant disbursement, the switching over to black cards is an initiative aimed toward this end. The new cards will be better in features and more secure against fraud and unauthorized deductions.
Where To Go For Card Replacement?
Beneficiaries can collect the new black cards for grant payments from over 300 designated centers located all over South Africa, commonly within major retail outlets such as:
- Shoprite
- Checkers
- Usave
- Boxer
- Pick n Pay
To Find The Nearest Card Replacement Site:
- Dial *120*218*3# on your mobile phone.
- Once completed, press 1 to confirm.
- Select the province of your preference, and a list of the closest sites will be provided.
Requirements For Issuance
You should present one of the following for the issuance of your new Postbank black card:
- A valid South African ID or
- Temporary ID document
No card will be issued without any of these documents.
Important Deadlines
Replacement of gold cards expires on May 31, 2025. After this date, gold cards shall not be operational anymore for transactions, withdrawals or balance inquiries.
