In a strange turn of events, several employees of the Central Government have been left disappointed after the latest news about the fitment factor and salary revision. As per official sources, while the Dearness Allowance is merged into the basic salary, there will be no such fitment factor hike in 2025. The entire message has disappointed employees who were expecting a high salary comparison with the 8th Pay Commission framework.
What Is Fitment Factor
Fitment factor-related What it defines-the fitment factor also being one of the major determinants of Central Government pay through the revisions by the Pay Commissions-it converts the multiplication that is used for deriving the New Basic from the Old One. At Present it is 2.57 and the employees were having high expectations about its change to 3.68 or else to 3.00, the pay revision being beneficial and hugely boosting their salary.
DA Merged But No Extra Benefit
With the DA crossing the 50 percent mark, the standard government protocol of merging the DA into the basic pay structure has been enforced. Although this is a routine strike out, it usually precedes the way for more benefits. Nevertheless, regarding this merger, recent reports confirm that no separate fitment hike will take place in the year 2025 and that only the amount of merged DA will be an addition to the basic pay.
Employees Response
This development stands as a pay shock for almost 50 lakh employees and about 65 lakh pensioners. Most of them believed that things would have taken a different turn at this juncture given rising inflation and increasing costs of living. The employee unions and associations have already made their objections clear and will be taking this matter up with the concerned authorities.
Government’s Stand
Officials justify it as using caution in following recognized fiscal responsibility measures while the 8th Pay Commission has not yet been formally announced. This is being sold as a consolidation measure, not immediately available for higher salary gain.
What Lies Ahead?
Hope for a fitment factor raise in 2025 all but fizzles out; employee bodies continue the issue of creating equal wage restructuring. Now the focus is as good as going to be on the possible setup of the 8th Pay Commission and whether it will address the projects of changes that have been much anticipated.
